FAQ

  • First, you'll have time to discuss what issues you want help with, as well as indicate your preferences for the session, including areas you'd prefer to be avoided for any reason. Then you'll be left alone to undress to your comfort level and get under the sheets on the massage table. If you need anything adjusted during the session (pressure/technique/areas being worked/draping/etc), feel free to ask.

  • Most of the bodywork involves working directly on the skin with oil, so it is useful for the bodyworker to have access to areas of concern for more detailed work. However, your feelings of safety and comfort come first, and many clients leave on underwear or other layers that help them feel secure during a session. In any case, you will be carefully and professionally draped with a sheet so that only the areas being worked on are exposed.

  • Most people feel very relaxed, sometimes with minor happy brain fog (drinking water helps with this!). Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. You may initially feel sore for a day or two following your session, this is normal for deep tissue work, and what follows is often a period of increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.

  • Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.

  • Yes. That's why it's imperative that, before you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.
